zetVisions employees report

Lena has been working as a developer at zetVisions since September 2012 (Entry as part of the training to become an application developer).

My typical working day starts with…

… turning on the air-condition in order to keep a cool head. Then I check the internal ticket system and see if I was assigned any new tickets. Mostly the daily scrum follows immediately: in our team it is set to start at 9:30 AM. After this short coordination, I turn to my daily tasks. They include the implementation of new codes, either standard or customer-specific (so real programming), or the error correction of so-called bugs.

Typical challenges in my working environment…

... are the estimation of so-called stories within the frame of our SCRUM developing process. Together with my co-workers we valuate the stories that were written from Product Management. These stories are then planned and divided internally between the team members before it goes into development. It is very exciting, especially when completely new features are developed and you create the concept all by yourself. Once in a while we will deal with new technologies in order to always keep our products up-to-date. Of course analysing errors and fixing them if necessary is also part of the daily work. This might sound boring at first, but it is not, it is rather a challenge. Generally in software development you always have to keep the whole product in mind, as there are a lot of dependencies and therefore it is possible – if you do not pay attention – to bring errors or bugs into the software.

Today’s highlight was…

… a positive feedback and a thank-you from one of our established customers for a customer-specific development. This give you a huge motivation boost – it feels great to know that my development for the customer is distributed around the globe.

At zetVisions excites me especially…

… the informal atmosphere and interaction. When you need help – even interdepartmental – you will always find an open ear. Also I like the fact that we keep up with technological trends, for example we just started introducing the SAP UI5 as new mobile surface.
